Freedom

Our natural state is freedom, freedom to be ourselves, freedom to be creative, freedom of expression.

We spend much of our early years focusing on the boundaries, rules and regulations of our families, communities and institutions. We spend all this time learning about restriction and conformity, some of which is necessary to socialise us and keep us safe. Then after we’ve learnt all these, we spend the next chunk of our lives trying to re-discover who we are as free spirits!

The restriction is in part necessary, if we didn’t go through the initial control process we would be like untrained lasers with little discipline or control. Indeed, some people are totally undisciplined and often find life confusing as they don’t know the rules that society dictates, so they struggle to fit in and find their place in the world.

Freedom is a basic expression of our spirits, we are naturally free and when we allow ourselves free reign we can express our TRUE creative nature.

It’s our fears that keep us trapped, fear of not being accepted, fear of not being good enough, fear of getting it wrong, fear of stepping away from the collective – these are our prisons. As soon as we release the heavy bags of fears that are strapped to our backs we can stretch our wings.
