Guilty Pleasure’s!

Ok, so you fall off your healthy eating pedestal for anything from a minute or two to a week or two…….that’s not great but let’s face it, it happens. Following on from my last blog on the importance of the frame of mind you are in when you eat, being so influential to your digestion and absorption….. guilt is an absolute crippler to you general health and wellbeing. If you are going to indulge in something from ‘the dark side’ then at least enjoy it in the moment…..then MOVE ON……guilt is heavy glue for the body energetically. Guilt serves no useful purpose, other than to allow you to register that you may not want to have that experience again ! If you are going to allow yourself eating ‘treats’ (these feed the emotions not the body) repeatedly feeling guilty about it is going to add to your possible sense of lack of self worth and made you feel as though you have failed. As I say forget it, either indulge and enjoy, or don’t indulge. The guilt will do you far more damage than the food will. This is not an endorsement to eat rubbish but it is a plea to make an empowered choice whether that be health or not, enjoy it and then get back on track. Interestingly, allowing a ‘guilty pleasure’ to just be a ‘pleasure’ often takes the appeal away….. the temptation of the forbidden! Guilt and shame are the most debilitating and damaging emotions that we can feel. They bring are whole system down. Notice your body language when you think about a time when you felt this way. Make a decision before you eat something ‘naughty’…… am I going to feel guilt or no guilt, it really is that simple!
